Cable machines are an excellent tool, especially if your goal is to build muscle. You can use the machine or bench to stabilize yourself and since the weights are connected to a fixed pulley, the weight is general easy to control.

If you feel like you’re a little tight in some positions, try sitting in that position and focus on your breathing for 1-2 mins. Close your eyes. See how your body will start to open up after being intentional with breathing. Then be consistent with it. Progressively expose yourself to more. Then keep growing.

Hammer curl
How do I train forearms? One way is by doing hammer curls, especially if you notice that grip and hanging strength may be a bit lackluster.
Just like with any curl, don’t use your lower back and momentum to curl that weight up. Leave your ego at the door because curling 20 or 30 lbs. properly looks way better than flailing like a fish trying to curl something heavier.

Hand position and arm angle matter! Make sure to work against gravity in this position and limit and exposure to the lower back by keeping the barbell close to your body and most importantly, being able to control the weight when it is going back down!

Frog stretch
🦁 Most people tend to easily get confused when talking about adductors and abductors. An easy way to remember is that we use our ADDuctors to ADD or bring our legs together, hence they are in the inside of or thighs. Obviously, that leaves the abductors on the outside of our legs/hips, used to bring your legs apart.
This is a wonderful stretch that you can keep passive or make it active. This will provide some temporary relief but remember, if you want to permanently lengthen your muscles so that they don’t always feel “tight” we have to keep on getting stronger! 💪🏽

Standing pec stretch
🦁 If you feel like you have rounded shoulders and/or a hunched back, part of the cause could be a tight chest. Take a couples minutes everyday to do this stretch, especially if you’re someone who is on the computer or constantly on their phone throughout the day.
The awesome thing about this stretch is that you can make it an active stretch. Meaning, whatever surface you are using for the stretch, you can simply relax, press into it for a few seconds to activate your chest and then get deeper into the stretch. This is called proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation or PNF stretching and is one of the most effective ways to help increase flexibility and range of motion.

🦁Hips, hips, hips! Making sure these bad boys stay strong and mobile will help you not only on the dance floor, but in everyday life as well! The human body is meant to move; we are not dormant creatures! We are however, creatures of habit.
What do you think happens to your hips if we hardly use them? The muscle becomes shorten, it becomes weakened, they it feels like they’re it’s always tight and it will cause other muscles to compensate for those hips. Moral of the story: MOVE YOUR BODY!

Protraction/retraction (band)
🦁 Back to back mobility on shoulders! With this movement, the size of your band controls the tension; also where you grab on the band as well. Even though this is a shoulder movement, something else moves too. Can you guess what it is? Yes, it’s your scapula!!
Movement is medicine. Experiment and find out what and how your body is capable of moving. Start to put pieces of the puzzle together and remember that your body moves as a system, one group relying on the other.

Core activation
🦁 What does it mean to activate your core? It means taking the time to properly “turn on” those abdominal muscles, preparing your body for the work it’s about to do. We often see constant gym goers hope right into their workout without any sort of warm-up. Remember, it’s always better to prehab than to rehab.
Anyone that has previously had a lower back injury or just have trouble keeping a strong core during their workouts because they “don’t feel it” can benefit from this short video. A strong core = a strong body!

Today was our first community workout at the new gym, @fenixfitnessjax .To the lucky participants of today’s workout, it was a tough one and all of y’all killed it. 💯
For our finisher today, there were two teams of three people. One person has 15 calories on the @assaultfitness while the other two people hold a wall-sit. Today, we came together as a family and pushed @tiffcamacho_ through her last 5 cals! The energy, love and support was incredible!!

For our finisher today, we did a “fun” partner workout that got the heart rate at nearly maximal capacity while destroying whatever juice we had left in the shoulders. It looked a little something like this:

Happy #TerribleThursday ladies and gents! Today, we had the privilege of working out w/ Mr. @ochocinco himself! Growing up, he was and still is one of Ken’s favorite WR’s to have ever played the game because of how swagger on the field and of course, his dance moves after every TD. Today, we got to kick his ass! Talk about an opportunity of a lifetime! 🙏
Our finisher was a core and shoulder burner today, with a touch of athleticism. It went a little something like this:
Rounds: 3
🔷Everyone gets into a push-up position, except one person.
🔷The person standing jumps over the push-up people.
🔷A burpee is performed every time you jump over someone.
🔷After you get jumped over, the person on the ground shimmy’s down.
🔷One round is completed after the person who originally started is at the front.
Try your best to stay up for as long as you can, keeping that core tight! It may seem like a simple workout, but take it from us, it’s definitely a burner! 🔥

Coming into 2020, we wanted to do a simple, yet challenging, #TerribleThursday after a big day of heavy deadlifts, back squats and hip thrust. We challenge you to give this a try! 😏

We liked this one because it’s not only physically tough, but it’s a mental game too, especially on that last 1000m. Build a strong foundation in January, regardless if it’s in the gym, meal prepping, work, etc. and allow your strong work ethic and determination to propel you to success and destroying your goals in 2020!
